about

This is Dan Karlsberg's 3rd album as leader. For this project Dan put together a group of his mentors to perform his music in a traditional jazz sextet setting. The music on the other hand is not always so traditional. Featured songs include arrangements of Miles Davis's "Freddie Freeloader", and Maurice Ravel's piano piece "Pavane for Sleeping Beauty", along with a new reworking of Stephen Foster's "Oh! Susanna" The music also includes several origianl compositions by Dan as well.

About the 'Nati 6:

The 'Nati 6 consists of jazz pianist and composer Dan Karlsberg and five of Greater Cincinnati's great living jazz legends: Bassist Jim Anderson, who has worked with the notable Art Blakey, Ernestine Anderson, Hank Crawford and Nat Adderly; Drummer Art Gore, who has performed with George Benson, Teru Nakamura and Herbie Hancock; Pianist and trumpeter Kim Pensyl, who has twice been named one of Billboard’s Top -20 Contemporary Jazz Artists of the Year, and has had four Top-10 albums on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart; Saxophonist Brent Gallaher, who has toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra; and Trombonist Marc Fields, who has toured with the Ray Charles Orchestra.
