about

Each song on this album is it's own short musical journey through colorful stories that come together to make up Dan Karlsberg's 2nd album as leader. "Mission to Mars & other short stories" was influenced by three classic jazz albums, familiar to many: "Speak Like a Child" - Herbie Hancock, "Tender Moments" - McCoy Tyner, and Geri Allen's "The Gathering".

At the core of the album is the trio of Dan Karlsberg (piano), Steve Whipple (bass), and Anthony "T" Lee (drums). Throughout the journey, Sandy Suskind (flute), Marc Fields (trombone), Garin Webb and Oz Landesberg (saxophones) join the trio on the mission to explore the universe thru the wonders of music and improvisation.
